Overview
Common prerequisites
Section titled “Common prerequisites”To install Quantum Helix, you need:
-
A supported installation target; see Installation Requirements.
In particular, this means you need a Kubernetes cluster up and running, with
Readynodes, a supported CNI installed and functioning, and a defaultStorageClass. -
A usable kubeconfig and Kubernetes access sufficient to install namespaced and cluster-scoped QHx resources.
Recommended: QHx CLI
Section titled “Recommended: QHx CLI”The recommended installation path is qhx install. It supports an
interactive wizard, unattended connected installation, release-package
creation, and offline deployment through an operator-controlled OCI mirror.
The administrator’s machine needs the qhx executable. Connected installation
and package creation also require QHx customer deployment credentials. Offline
installation requires the release package and an OCI mirror that the
administrator can push to and the target cluster can pull from.
The CLI embeds its Helm and OCI handling; it does not require external helm
or oras executables.
Advanced: manual Helm
Section titled “Advanced: manual Helm”The manual Helm installation process remains available for operators who need direct control of the chart and image values. In addition to the common prerequisites, that workflow uses:
- the Kubernetes CLI tool,
kubectl; - the Helm package management tool,
helm; - the ORAS artifact retrieval tool,
orasfor retrieving distribution artifacts, andregctlwhen manually mirroring images; - QHx customer credentials for the official release registry.
Installing Quantum Helix
Section titled “Installing Quantum Helix”First install the QHx CLI, then use the qhx install
guide for the normal online, package, and offline workflows. Use the
manual Helm guide only when you intend to retrieve and mirror
artifacts and manage Helm values yourself.
